What is Job Design?

Work is a group of interconnected jobs aimed at achieving institutional objectives. Work design is defining how to perform a job or job. Here are some popular definitions of work design

According to Evert E. Adam and Ronald T. Ebert “Work design is defining the content of each job and determining how the work will be distributed within the organization.”

According to William J. Stevenson “Work design is the work of specifying the content of a job and the way it is performed.”

In the light of the above definitions, work design is the process of performing job for the purpose of achieving organizational objectives, the underlying content of the work and the functions that specify the elements that affect the work.
