Interview question: “Why do you want to work here?

Interviewer asks this question to understand what drives you to seek out a job with this company in particular.

❌ Some generic and poor answers look like this:

▪️ I need a job, and this company seems okay.
▪️ I don’t know much about the company, but I heard it’s good.
▪️ I heard your industry is growing, so I’ll give it a shot.
▪️ One of my friends works here, so he referred me to this position.

Make sure to avoid such one-line or generic responses.

To answer this question correctly, research the company thoroughly.

📌 Your research should focus on knowing:-

1. What is the mission of the company?
2. What problems are they trying to solve?
3. Anything that makes them stand out

✅ Here are 3 responses that will make a favorable impression:

▪️ I’ve done extensive research on [Company Name] and I’m impressed by [specific achievement or initiative]. I’m excited to contribute to your continued success.

▪️ This position aligns with my long-term career goals of [mention career goals]. I’m excited about the growth opportunities here.

▪️ I see this role as a perfect match for my skills in [mention skills] and my experience in [mention relevant experience]. I’m eager to contribute to your upcoming projects.

This shows your alignment with the company’s values, mission, and culture while also emphasizing how excited you are to contribute.
