Emotional Management of Others

This is the skill of influencing the moods and emotions of others. Yes, you can do this -you can influence negatively and positively the emotions of others and in doing so have a positive influence on their behaviours and their work performance.

If you do this effectively you will help people think differently about things that are causing them adversity or upsetting them.

People who are high in this skill help people identify more effective ways of responding (or behaving) to events that are causing them adversity. They create environments that make people feel more optimistic and positive.

When you manage the emotions of others effectively, you will generate a positive and satisfying work environment.

And if you are competent in this area you will be able to effectively deal with workplace conflict.

One of the outcomes of effectively using this skill is the impact you can have on employee engagement.
